Naomi Klein all for Shock Doctrine Now
We have followed the travails of Naomi Klein's implausible theories about "The Chicago School's" and neoconservative's penchant for creating or exploiting crisis to advance their ideological agenda. (Ms. Klein thinks The Chicago School and neoconservatives are pretty much indistinguishable, which is kind of like saying that Brahms and Metallica are more or less the same because they are both music.) According to her book, The Shock Doctrine, using or instigating chaos to foist their dastardly system on an unsuspecting and unwanting people is bad.
Of course, what she means is it is bad when she disagrees with the philosophy itself. If it is an ideology with which Ms Klein agrees, then hey, no problem, shock away! From Johan Norberg.
"Do we want to save the pre-crisis system, get it back to where it was
last September? Or do we want to use this crisis, and the electoral
mandate for change delivered by the last election, to radically
transform that system? We need to get clear on our answer now because
we haven’t had the potent combination of a serious crisis and a clear
progressive democratic mandate for change since the 1930s. We use this
opportunity or we lose it."
